Which cover?

I am working on the final piece for my latest project: the cover.  I have provided the publisher with two options.
The first is perfectly nice, and the sketch itself is a little more polished:
However, the second has a little more going on.  I love the idea of including a piece of torn notebook paper under the title of the book:
What do YOU think?

These are great, Liza! I'm going to be complicated and say a combination of the two. I like the triumphant look of the dog and the expression of the boy in the first one, but I do love the torn paper title and the scrap behind the barcode area as well!

Me too... I love the expression on the dog in the first one, and the exasperation of the boy. But I also like the torn paper title idea.

I wonder which the publisher likes best?
Good luck :)

Thanks you all. I think a combination of the two would be best. I'll keep you posted and let you know what they choose.
